Can I claim for compression garments via Extras cover?

To claim for compression garments, you need to be on Top Extras with any applicable waiting period served.

You may be able to claim towards medical grade garments:

  •  Prescribed post-surgery, or to treat:
    • lymphedema
    • vascular conditions
    • severe burns.
  • Purchased from a registered Australian business with a physical presence in Australia.

When submitting your claim, please include:

  • Completed Aids and Appliances form signed by your doctor (this will be valid for 12 months, after which you'll need to submit another form to claim this benefit again)
  • Itemised tax invoice that shows the name of the patient (i.e. the person who’ll be wearing the garments).

Like most services under the Artificial Aids & Appliances benefit, Compression garments has an annual sub-limit.
