Who can join the Teachers Health family?

As the not-for-profit industry health fund set up to help care for the education community, we're one big family. We not only welcome teachers, school staff and education students who are current members of a relevant union, but a long list of relatives too (as you can see from the family tree below).

We're for teachers, school staff and the education community

Are you a teacher, an academic, an education student or admin/support staff and a union member? Or were you in the past? You can join us if any of the following describes you:

Teachers, academics and education students

You're a current (or former) member of any of these education unions:

NSW Teachers Federation
Australian Education Union (AEU) and affiliated unions
Independent Education Union of Australia (IEUA) and affiliated unions
National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU)

State School Teachers’ Union of WA (SSTUWA)

Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU)

Other relevant education unions.

Admin and support staff

You're a current (or former) member of an appropriate union, and are (or were) administration or support staff at a state or territory:

Department of Education
Board of Studies
Teaching and Education Standards
Public school or college
Non-government school or similar educational institution
Other similar organisation.

Or you're a current (or former) member of an appropriate union, and an employee of:

NSW Teachers Federation
AEU Branch
Teachers Mutual Bank
Aware Super
New Law
TAFE Commission
Office of the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or Institution.

Family members

If you're lucky enough to be related to someone who can join Teachers Health (who meets one of the above criteria), you can join us too (even if they're not a member!). This includes:

Spouse/partner (current or former)
Kids and stepkids – and their partners
Parents, stepparents and parents-in-law
Siblings – and kids on their cover
