How do I get a Medicare Statement of Benefits?

You’ll need to send us a copy of your Medicare Statement of Benefits if:

  • Your specialist doesn’t treat you under the Access Gap Cover scheme and
  • You claimed your Medicare entitlement either in-person, online via MyGov or using the Medicare app (rather than with a two-way claim form).

After Medicare pays you, a copy of the statement will be available from your MyGov account (not your Medicare account). Downloading it from your MyGov inbox is the fastest way to get a copy.

If you don’t have a MyGov account, please contact Medicare to ask for a copy of the Medicare Statement of Benefits.

Please note this statement isn’t the same as:

  • Medicare Statement of Claims and Benefit
  • An invoice from your medical specialist

That’s because only the Medicare Statement of Benefits shows all the information we need to process your claim, such as Medicare item numbers and the benefits paid for each of these.
