Helping you access online, clinically proven programs

From 10 October, if you have Extras cover, you’ll be able to claim for Digital mental health support* programs from THIS WAY UP as part of your Psychology yearly limit.

Because looking after your mental health can be deeply personal, these programs are a convenient option if you’re time-poor or simply need support that fits you. Developed by psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, these programs are designed to help you manage challenges, from stress and insomnia to anxiety and depression.

What is THIS WAY UP?

THIS WAY UP offers trusted online cognitive behavioural therapy programs. These use evidence-based techniques for managing anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions. It is a joint venture between St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and the University of NSW.

What programs are available?

These range from ones that help with general wellbeing and stress management to specific conditions like anxiety or depression. Each offers practical skills and strategies – these are all covered by your Extras.

Some programs, that you can claim for, can help with anxiety (also for specific cases like social, pregnancy and postnatal anxiety), depression, panic, chronic pain or OCD.

Others, such as those for mindfulness, insomnia and stress management are free.

  • Served the two-month waiting period for Psychology
  • Not used up your limits for Psychology
  • Signed up for a THIS WAY UP program.

How else can I use my Extras to support my mental health?

All levels of Teachers Health Extras cover include benefits for psychology, counselling and Accredited Mental Health Social Worker services. This includes both face to face or telehealth consultations. Check your Extras benefits and limits

Can I claim for other digital mental health support programs from other providers?

No. THIS WAY UP is the only provider approved by Teachers Health for the Digital Mental Health Support benefit.
