Manage dependants on your cover

If a dependant on your membership is turning 21, or the new academic year is approaching and you need to update their student status, you can manage their cover in the My Teachers Health app.

This process lets you do one of the following:

  • Update your dependants’ student status
  • Keep a student dependant on your cover if they remain eligible
  • Get extended family cover if one or more of your dependants are no longer studying but meet the eligibility criteria for dependant non-students
  • End cover for any dependants who are no longer eligible to stay on your membership
    •  

Get started in the app

  1. Go to the My cover screen
  2. Tap Manage cover next to the dependant whose cover is expiring

You can also get there from the Home screen by tapping the banner advising that your dependant’s cover is expiring.

What happens next

Update your dependant's status as necessary.
If the dependant isn't eligible to remain on your cover, you’ll be prompted to end their cover. If they’re eligible, choose how you’d like to proceed with their cover, based on their eligibility:

  • Remain on your cover as a student dependant
  • Get extended family cover so they can stay on as a dependant non-student (you’ll be asked to choose a start date)
  • End cover for that dependant

Follow the prompts in the app to confirm eligibility and complete your update.

Membership cards

You can order a physical membership card for members on your cover from the My Teachers Health app.

  1. Go to the Account screen once logged in
  2. Under Membership card, tap Order a physical card
  3. Select the member you want to order a card for
  4. Tap Next
  5. Verify the recipient and delivery details are correct
  6. Tap Order card

Update your contact details

You can change your address, email and phone number(s) through your online account. 

In Online Member Services, select More from the left navigation menu. In the mobile app, tap Account from the bottom navigation menu.

Then:

  1. Select Contact details
  2. Choose the detail you'd like to change
  3. Enter the new information and then select Save

Changing your mobile number?

If you update your mobile number, logging in with multi-factor authentication will still work. The system automatically recognises your new number and will send the 6-digit verification codes to it.

Membership forms and tax statements

Downloading and uploading membership forms

Get and submit membership forms in your online account using the app or Online Member Services.

These forms can be downloaded, completed manually and then uploaded back to us online:

Note that some forms may also require a doctor or health practitioner's signature.

Where to find membership forms

From Online Member Services: select More from the navigation menu and select Membership forms

From the My Teachers Health app: in your Account screen, under Documents, select Get & submit membership forms.

You will see options to download any of the four forms listed above.

Upload completed forms

  1. To submit a form, from the Membership Forms screen, you’ll see an Upload a form option (in the app, choose Submit Form
  2. Select who the form is for
  3. Add up to 3 files (the form, plus any supporting documents that may be required). Make sure they are no larger than 5.0 MB and either JPG, JPEG, PNG or PDF format
  4. Submit your form(s)
  5. An email confirming we received your form(s) will be sent to the policyholder

Tax statements

View and download tax statements for the relevant financial year.

Where to find them

Your tax statements are located in the Inbox of your online account as well as from: 

My Teachers Health app: on the Account screen, under Documents, select Tax statements.

Online Member Services: select More from the navigation menu, then select Tax statements.
