Teachers Health Fund is the only health fund exclusively for members of the education community and their families. Membership is open to anyone in the education community, including current and former primary, secondary and tertiary teachers, teachers’ aides, lecturers and support and administration staff from public, private and independent institutions around Australia. In addition to this, family members of eligible members are also able to join Teachers Health Fund.

Current/Former Teachers and Academics

To join Teachers Health Fund, you need to be a current or former member or associate member of any of the following education unions:

• NSW Teachers Federation
• Australian Education Union (AEU) and affiliated unions
• Independent Education Union (IEU) and affiliated unions
• National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU)
• State School Teachers Union of Western Australia (SSTUWA)
• Institute of Senior Education Administrators NSW (SEANSW)
• Other appropriate education workplace unions

Administrative and Support Staff

To join Teachers Health Fund, you must be:

• a current or former staff member employed by the NSW Department of Education and Communities, The Office of the NSW Board of Studies or the Institute of Teachers in the TAFE Commission who is, or was at the time, a member of an appropriate union (where one existed)
• a current or former employee of the NSW Teachers Federation or Teachers Mutual Bank (formerly known as Teachers Credit Union) who is, or was at the time, a member of an appropriate union (where one existed)
• a current or former school administration staff member in NSW who is, or was at the time, covered by the Public Service Association of NSW (PSA).

Family Members

Teachers Health Fund also invites the family members of eligible members to join, including:

• current or former spouse/partner
• dependant/s children
• adult children (or their partner or dependant child)
• siblings (or their partner or dependant child)
• parents
• grandchildren
