Teachers Health Group members to share in $55 million give-back from COVID claim savings

23 June 2023

Teachers Health Group (incorporating Teachers Health, UniHealth and Nurses & Midwives Health) today announced approximately $55 million will be returned to eligible members in one-off payments as part of their latest COVID give-back initiative. The move is part of the Group’s commitment to return the claims savings realised due to COVID back to members and follows the deferral of this year’s premium increases until October 1, 2023.

The latest giveback takes the Group’s total COVID support package to $134 million – including approximately $31 million in one-off payments as part of their give-back in 2022. Recognising the impact of rising cost of living on household budgets, the give-back provides essential support to the Group’s members at a time when it’s needed most.

“As a profit-to-member fund, supporting the wellbeing of and providing care for our members is our number one priority. We’re proud to continue our commitment to return any COVID-savings back to members, “said CEO Brad Joyce.

“Our teachers, school staff, nurses and midwives provide vital support to our community, and this give-back reflects both our values as a fund and our promise to put their needs first,” he concluded.

Teachers Health Group is Australia’s largest industry-based health fund covering over 400,000 lives and offering health insurance for educators, school staff, nurses and midwives, and their families.
