Healthy hearing costs less with Specsavers

Hear better and pay less with our exclusive partnership

Healthy hearing is essential for enjoying life to the fullest. That’s why Teachers Health members enjoy exclusive savings on Specsavers Advance range of hearing aids and can get a free assessment.

How to get started:

  • Book a free hearing check at Specsavers Audiology
  • If a further hearing assessment is needed, it’s free (usually $49)
  • Looking for hearing aids? Get a discount or pay no gap depending on the type of hearing aid and if you qualify for the government’s Hearing Services Program (HSP). Specsavers can check your eligibility and deduct the subsidy from the cost of your hearing device
  • Got Top Extras? We’ll cover any out-of-pocket costs* up to your available limits and after any waiting periods.

Pricing and options

Out-of-pocket costs for hearing aids depend on the device type and how long you’ve held Top Extras for. In many cases, there may be no gap to pay.

Specsavers Audiology will let you know your benefit and any out-of-pocket costs upfront, so you can decide what’s right for you before you go ahead.

Questions around claiming

How can I check if I can claim out-of-pocket costs for hearing aids?

You’d need to be on Top Extras to claim for hearing aids. Here’s how to check your remaining limits. If you’d like to check whether you’ve served your waiting periods, contact us.

How do I claim with Teachers Health if I get hearing aids from Specsavers Audiology?

Specsavers Audiology can apply for the Hearing Services Program (HSP) subsidy if you’re eligible. They’ll deduct the subsidy from the cost of the hearing aids when you purchase them.

You can claim via HICAPS on the spot and have your available limits deducted from the cost.

You’ll then need to pay any remaining amount.

How often can I claim hearing aids?

You can claim for hearing aids once every three years. That’s for one pair of hearing aids per person. Not sure if you can still claim? Here’s how to check your available limits.

*We’ll pay a benefit up to your yearly limit. The amount also depends on your cover level, waiting periods served (there’s usually a 12-month wait for Aids & Appliances) and benefits available.
