How can I downgrade my cover?

Before making any changes, please consider:

  • Your options – which Hospital and Extras cover is right for you?
  • Your lower level of benefits – which services will be excluded, or covered at a lower level?
  • The cost get a quote via Online Member Services
  • Waiting periods may apply on your Hospital and/or Extras cover if you choose to upgrade your cover in the future


Ready to make the change?

You can do it online anytime. Here’s how:

  • Log in
  • Go to My membership
  • Click Cover details
  • Click Edit
  • Select Effective date
  • Select Hospital product tier
  • Select Hospital cover
  • Select Extras cover
  • Click Next
  • Tick the Declaration
  • Click Submit


Your next payment

Please note that downgrading may impact your ‘paid-to date’ (i.e. if your premium is decreasing, your next payment may be due later than it would have been).

To check your paid-to date:

  • Log in
  • Go to Payments
  • Click on Payment Details - Premiums
  • See Paid-to date


If you change your mind

All new cover comes with a 30 day cooling-off period. That means you can revert to your former cover (within 30 days) without re-serving relevant Hospital and/or Extras waiting periods. 

If you upgrade after 30 days, waiting periods will apply for the increased benefits.
