What’s Access Gap Cover?
Access Gap Cover is a scheme that can help you minimise, or avoid, out-of-pocket costs for in-hospital specialist treatment (for services that are covered or restricted).
If a specialist agrees to treat you under Access Gap, the maximum you’ll pay is a known gap of up to $500 ($800 for obstetrics). They might even agree to no gap – even better!
It’s the same for any other specialists involved in your hospital care, like an anaesthetist or assistant surgeon.
