Narragunnawali Reconciliation in Education Awards
Celebrating those at the heart of reconciliation – our teachers
We’re constantly in awe of the creativity and passion of our teachers and school communities, and advancing reconciliation is yet another way they’re changing our world for the better.
The role our educators play in reconciliation is vital – day in, day out they are quietly championing equity, and improving the lives of our students (and communities).
The Narragunnawali Reconciliation in Education Awards
To shine a light on those school communities leading the way in reconciliation, we’ve partnered with Reconciliation Australia as a sponsor of the schools category of the 2025 Narragunnawali Awards.
The 2025 winners and finalists were celebrated at the awards night in November, with each winner receiving prizemoney to help bring their reconciliation initiatives to life.
Congratulations to the schools who are putting their heart and soul into connecting and healing our communities.
Winner: Briar Road Public School
Dharawal Country
Principal Tammy Anderson says reconciliation is probably the most important thing they do at the school. And parents talk of the pride it has instilled in the students, and the courage it takes to make reconciliation a priority.
Finalist: Karuah Public School
Worimi Country
This primary school’s journey has involved courage, open conversations and growing recognition. It has transformed a history of trauma and division into connection and hope for teachers, students and families.
Finalist: Bannister Creek Primary School
Whadjuk Noongar Country
Another passionate school is bringing reconciliation to life by uniting staff, indigenous and non-indigenous students, and the community. To make an even bigger impact, they’re also sharing their knowledge with other schools across WA.
Bringing like-minded hearts together
Just like the teachers dedicated to shaping young lives with care and compassion, we believe in respect and equity for all.
Our partnership with Reconciliation Australia through our support of the Narragunnawali Awards gives us the privilege of supporting reconciliation through education, which has a positive ripple effect on the health and wellbeing of so many Australians.
This very special sponsorship is another way we’re bringing our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to life and giving meaningful support to the communities in which we work and live.
Helpful resources for hardworking teachers
Understanding the multiple demands teachers face daily, Reconciliation Australia offers a range of curriculum resources, subject guides, and webinars and workshops to make it easier to bring reconciliation to life in the classroom.
They’ve been created mindfully to help you engage students with age-appropriate topics and encourage discussion, understanding and connection. Whether you’re a maths, geography or drama teacher, you can even search for specific topics to ignite your early-learning, primary or secondary students.
All resources are free (you might just have to create an account).
We’d love you and your students to join us on this learning journey. Together our community can champion greater connection and change.

Social responsibility
We champion the values that are important to our members. It’s why we make it a priority to help make a difference in our communities – from supporting schoolkids in need to helping refugee mums and babies.
