What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
MFA (also known as two-step verification) is an additional layer of protection for your personal information. Each time you log in, you’ll have to enter your password plus a one-time, 6-digit verification code. If your device supports it, you can set up Face ID or biometrics in the app to avoid having to enter codes each time.
Receiving verification codes
Set up MFA to secure your online account when you first set it up and register.
There are three different methods you can use to receive verification codes:
- Text message (SMS) via mobile phone
- Authenticator app downloaded on your mobile device (for example, Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator)*
How to set up the authenticator app verification method
When you choose the authenticator app method:
- Scan the QR code using the authenticator app
- If you can’t scan the visual code, you’ll see a ‘setup code’ to copy. Enter it manually in your authenticator app by pasting or typing it in
- Once set up is complete in your authenticator app, your account will appear and start showing one-time codes
- Select Continue back in your online account
- Enter the verification code then select Submit
What happens when you log in
Each time you log in to your online account, you’ll enter your password and then also get a one-time code sent by the method you chose.
Text message (SMS)
You’ll receive a 6-digit code on the mobile number linked to your membership. Enter this verification code on to the screen.
You’ll receive a 6-digit code emailed to the email account linked to your membership. Enter this verification code on to the screen.
Authenticator app
Open the authenticator app to get the 6-digit code.
Enter this verification code on to the screen.
What if I change my mobile number or email address?
The system will recognise your new contact details, and the verification code will be sent to the new mobile number or email.
