How to check what you’re covered for

In your online account from either the My Teachers Health app or Online Member Services, you can view your cover details.

From the Home screen (in the app, select Cover from the bottom navigation menu), you can view:

  • your member number and cover details
  • dates you’re paid to
  • what you pay and how often
  • your excess: the amount you may need to pay upfront if you’re admitted to hospital. You'll only pay the total excess once per person, per calendar year
  • people covered 

To see the full list of what’s included and what’s not, select the icon next to Hospital and/or Extras to open the product sheet (in the app, go to My cover, select the cover option, then tap View Product Sheet)

Extras usage and limits

Check your Extras limits to see how much you’ve used so far and plan your upcoming appointments or claims.

  1. From the Home screen, select Extras usage
  2. Choose the member you want to view
  3. Select an Extras service to see its total limit
  4. You’ll see how much of that limit you have remaining
  5. Sub-limits are shown where relevant. These tell you the maximum number of services you can claim each year within a category

Compare your cover to other options

You can compare your current cover with other cover options to see how your premiums and inclusions differ.

In Online Member Services, go to More from the left navigation menu.
In the app, go to Account from the bottom navigation menu.

Then:

  1. Select Compare cover
  2. Choose the start date to see prices for that date
  3. Select View cover options
  4. Next to your current cover, you’ll see other available options so you can compare and decide what best suits your needs
  5. Select another cover option, then See summary to view the comparison and cost details
