Teachers Health Ambassador, Kurt Fearnley named Sports Personality of the Year
Teachers Health (THF) is delighted to announce that THF Ambassador, Kurt Fearnley has been named Sports Personality for 2014 in the inaugural AIS Sport Performance Awards.
Kurt was recognised and rewarded for his achievements both on and off of the track in one of two prizes decided by public vote.
The AIS Sports Performance Awards (ASPAs) recognise Australia’s leading athletes, teams, coaches and administrators by celebrating their outstanding achievements. Award finalists and winners were celebrated at an awards ceremony at the Melbourne Museum.
Kurt is best known as one of Australia's most decorated and respected wheelchair athletes, having represented his country at Paralympic Games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games and winning some of the world's most challenging and prestigious marathons. Outside of his athletics career, Kurt is also a qualified physical education teacher and is proud of his role of Teachers Health Fund Ambassador. Kurt told THF's Healthmatters magazine, "As an athlete and teacher, the synergy between myself and the only health fund exclusively for the education community was obvious."
