Claiming extras (general services) benefits
Your Membership Card
Your Teachers Health Fund membership card is enabled by a magnetic strip for electronic claiming of benefits. Your membership number is listed on the front of the card and is the number you use when communicating with us. Please report missing or stolen cards as soon as possible and do not leave them with another person not covered by the card or a service provider.
Claiming Extras benefits is easy and you can either claim electronically at the service provider or simply lodge a claim with us by post.
Claiming electronically at the service provider
Many extras service providers have an electronic claiming terminal in their practice. Claiming is as easy as swiping your membership card. When you do this, your claim details are entered and the whole transaction is processed in seconds. You simply verify the services are correct and once your claim is authorised, you pay any difference between the full fee for the treatment and the amount claimed from your extras cover.
Electronic claiming is available at the following participating health service providers:
- Dentists
- Optometrists
- Chiropractors
- Physiotherapists
- Endodontists
- Optical dispensers
- Osteopaths
- Podiatrists
- Psychologists
- Occupational therapists
- Acupuncturists
Claiming after transferring or upgrading your cover
Electronic claiming is convenient but does have some limitations. When you transfer or upgrade your cover, electronic claiming systems may not recognise the continuity of your cover. If you have questions or problems with electronic claiming when you transfer or upgrade your cover please contact us on 1300 728 188.
Claiming via the mail
Extras benefits can also be claimed via the mail. Simply complete a Teachers Health Fund Claim Form, attach your accounts and receipts and post it to us for assessing. Your benefits can be directly credited to an account of your choice. There is a section on the claim form where you can notify us of your preferred account for fund benefit transfers. Please mail your claim form to:
